Dr. Lu Long is currently a professor at the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, and Director of The Center for Healthcare Big Data Research. Before joining Wuhan University, Dr. Lu was a tenured professor at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, a top 3 children's hospital in the US. Dr. Lu's laboratory was continuously funded by grants from the US NIH (e.g., PI on R01 grants), the US NSF and private foundations (e.g., Gates Foundation) when he was with CCHMC for 10+ years.
Dr. Lu's main research interests are in biomedical informatics and healthcare big data analysis and application. The algorithms and technologies developed in Dr. Lu's laboratory have been successfully applied to infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases and children's developmental disorders. They have become effective tools to assist doctors in diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Lu has published 80+ high-quality peer-reviewed papers including in Science and Information Sciences (H index 35, total citations >4000), and held 10+ domestic and foreign patents. His research work has attracted international attention, including US NPR News, The Scientist, Genomics and Proteomics, Yahoo News and Reuters news. He has been invited to serve as a grant reviewer for the US NIH, US NSF, Canadian NSERC, French ANR, Polish NCN and Hong Kong ITC.
