Dr Haobo Hou, professor and doctoral supervisor of Wuhan University, outstanding scholar of Luojia, Wuhan University, director of Engineering and Technology Research Center of Environmental Restoration Materials in Hubei Province, Vice-Director of Sponge City Research Center of Wuhan University, was Vice-Dean of School of Resources and Environmental Sciences of Wuhan University from 2000 to 2017, and is Dean of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Environmental Technology Research Institute of Wuhan University (Zhaoqing) currently. He has been engaged in the teaching, scientific research and social service of solid waste recycling for a long time，and has made outstanding achievements in the development of environmental materials, the semi-drying of sewage sludge, the resource utilization of various solid wastes, the consolidation and filling of tailings, and the remediation of polluted soil. He has accomplished more than 60 scientific research projects at national and ministerial level. He participated in the compilation of four textbooks, obtained more than 10 national invention patents, and published more than 150 scientific papers. He is also the recipient of more than 10 provincial and ministerial awards, including the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of ministry of education of China. He has been an evaluation expert of the national natural science foundation of China (NSFC) and some other national scientific research projects for many times. He is a member of the council of the Chinese Environmental Sciences Association and other academic organizations.
