Shaohua Li is an associate research fellow at Wuhan University. His current research topics include the damage and failure mechanism of heterogeneous materials, such as rock and concrete, exposed to environmental, ultra-high performance concrete, and multi-scale loading, and the optimization design of functionally graded materials. He hosted a post-doctoral project (Scale-span study of dynamic performance of ultra-high performance concrete containing microcracks, N0.TUM#2019070310006155) supported by the EuroTechPostdoc Programme, which is co-funded by the European Commission under its framework programme Horizon 2020 and was awarded the title of "Marie Curie" Scholar. He has authored 20 scientific journal papers, including one ESI high-cited paper. His serves as the peer reviewer of Construction and Building Materials、International Journal of Mechanical Science、Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering、Journal of Building Engineering, etc.

Description of Research Group:课题组长期招收对岩石力学、高强韧混凝土材料、计算力学与人工智能等方向感兴趣的本科、硕士、博士研究生。课题组氛围开放友好，鼓励独立思考与交流合作，并支持学生根据兴趣逐步形成自己的研究方向。
课题组成员来自中国、法国、埃塞俄比亚等国家，日常科研交流中中英文并用，具有良好的国际化与英文交流氛围。很多时候，组内讨论本身就是最直接的“英语角”。
课题组实行灵活的科研管理方式，不设打卡要求，也不强制固定频率汇报，更注重阶段性进展、主动沟通与实际产出。培养的本科生和研究生在完成科研训练时，通常能够以第一作者或核心参与者身份参与国际高水平期刊论文发表，并形成较好的独立科研能力。
近年来，培养和指导的学生先后进入香港大学直博（耿藤峰、陈姿盈）、浙江大学（张钰）、中国科学院（杜耀斐）等高校和科研机构继续深造。课题组积极支持学生参加国内外学术会议和国际合作，并为研究生提供科研补贴与学术奖励。
