Dr. Liandong Zhu is currently a Full Professor at the School of Resource and Environmental Sciences of the Wuhan University (globally top 150-200). Before joining WHU, he was serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Vaasa, Finland. In March 2018 he won the 100 Talent Program under Hubei Province Government, and in November 2019 he won the 1000 Talent Program under Chinese Government. In September 2018 he stepped into his position at WHU as a professor. In January 2014 he graduated from the University of Vaasa as a doctor in the area of biofuels. He is also the recipient of the Åbo Akademi Award and Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Student Abroad. His background is environmental engineering and his research resides in biodiesel production by integration of microalgae cultivation with wastewater treatment. Until now, he has published more than 100 papers in many esteemed peer-reviewed scientific journals, such as Water Research, Applied Energy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy, Bioresource Technology, Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining (Biofpr) and Ecological Engineering. In total, the impact factor (IF) of his papers has reached up to 550 points (IF based on JCR reports 2021). According to Google Scholar, his papers have been well cited by more than 4300 times and the H-index reaches 33 (by September 2022). According to the Web of Science (ESI), seven of his papers were marked as highly cited papers.
Dr. Zhu serves as the Associate Editor of the IET Renewable Power Generation (IF 3.5), IEEE Access (IF 3.4) and Energy and Environment (IF 2.6), and the reviewer for more than 40 journals including Environmental Science and Technology, Water Research, Energy, Applied Energy, etc. In addition, Dr. Zhu’s previous research has also been well reported by two local Finnish newspapers (Pohjalainen and Ilkka) on their cover pages. His research achievements have also been reported by the Renewable Energy Global Innovations for several times.
Dr. Zhu’s research interests fall into the scopes of wastewater treatment, biofuels, waste recycling, and sustainable development. Dr. Zhu welcomes all kinds of cooperation in research, project application, publications and academic exchange or visits.
