Professor Chu received his Bachelor's degree in Engineering Mechanics from Dalian University of Technology in July 1999 and a PhD in Solid Mechanics from Dalian University of Technology in April 2007. In May 2007, he joined the Department of Engineering Mechanics at Wuhan University as a lecturer. In December 2009, he was promoted to associate professor. In 2012, he became a doctoral supervisor and joined the Luojia Youth Scholar program. From October 2011 to October 2012, he visited the University of Southern California and was promoted to professor in December 2015. He has served as the department branch secretary and deputy director, as well as the deputy director of the Graduate Teaching Guidance Committee of the college. Currently, he is an executive director of the Hubei Mechanical Society, an executive director of the Provincial Composite Materials Society, the South China Liaison Committee of Computational Mechanics Committee member, and the deputy leader of the Particle Materials Computational Mechanics Professional Group. He engaged in research and teaching in computational solid mechanics and particle material mechanics for a long time, led 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, participated in multiple national 973 projects and horizontal projects, and published more than 80 journal papers. SCI/EI indexed more than 50 papers, and 2 papers were selected for the Hubei Provincial Natural Science Paper Award. In 2010, he won the first prize of the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked 7th). In addition, he guided multiple students to win the Hubei Provincial Excellent Bachelor's Thesis. And in 2019, he won the Xu Zhilun Teaching Award. The main enrollment directions are as follows:
