Yuanzheng Shao received the Ph.D. degree in cartography and geographic information system from Wuhan University, China, in 2011. He joined the Center for Spatial Information Science and Systems, George Mason University as a research assistant professor from 2011 to 2014. He is currently an associate professor in the Collaborative Innovation Center of Geospatial Technology, Wuhan University, from 2014. He also joined the Geocomputation Center for Social Sciences (GCSS) as the assistant dean from 2018 to present.
His research interests include remote sensing data and information sharing, geospatial web services, geospatial cloud computing, remote sensing applications in agriculture, and standardization of geographical information. He has published more than 30 articles and conference proceedings in the field of geographic information and remote sensing. As the project leader, he published one international geographic information standard (ISO/TC 19163-2) and two national standards. He also participated in the formulation of over ten national and industry standards.
