陶然，武汉大学遥感信息工程学院教授，博导，国家级青年人才计划入选者。曾任美国南佛罗里达大学长聘副教授、美国地理学家协会Cyberinfrastructure分会主席、美国自然科学基金NSF研究项目负责人和评审专家等职务。现任地理学和空间分析顶级期刊Annals of the AAG, Geographical Analysis编委。陶博士长期致力于空间数据科学中地理流大数据的基础理论与领域应用相关研究，在国际上率先发展了一套较为完善的地理流时空分析、挖掘与建模的方法体系，提升了地理流大数据在防疫抗灾、智慧出行、城市与区域规划等重要领域的应用水平。此外，从经典的空间统计理论出发，提出了一系列地理空间人工智能的新算法与新模型，致力于解决当前方法可解释性不够、泛化能力不强、缺乏理论根基等关键问题。

研究方向：地理信息科学、地理流、GeoAI、空间统计、时空大数据分析与挖掘、人类移动行为在交通、健康等领域的应用。详见科学研究页面。
