    Wang Hongping, associate professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Resources and Environmental Sciences, Wuhan University. She is engaging in teaching and research in the field of environmental engineering. She is also one of the core members of the Water Safety Research Institute of Wuhan University.

     

    In terms of teaching, she mainly undertakes the teaching of the courses of Water Pollution control engineering, Sewerage Pipeline Engineering for undergraduate students majoring in environmental engineering and Theory and technology of wastewater treatment and reuse for graduate students for master degreeAnnually, 1-3 academic/professional graduate students for master degree majoring in Environment Engineering are permitted to be recruited.

     

    In terms of research, the field is water pollution control. With the goal of solving practical engineering problems, research fields include sewage/wastewater treatment processes,  watershed water environment comprehensive management and technologies. The completed projects mainly included one national key research and development plan project and two national science and technology support plan projects supported by Chinese MOST, one environmental protection special project supported by Hubei Province and 11 enterprise cooperation technology development projects. One of the two certificated patents has been applied in industry. 25 papers had been published, including 5 SCI and EI papers.

     

    She particularly enjoy collaborating with various enterprises, applying research-oriented thinking, and helping enterprises solve complex environmental problems based on the principles of resource conservation, economy, and efficiency. The enterprises that have cooperated and doing distribute in petrochemical, steel, chemical and manufacturing industries. The ways to solve problems include providing complete technology, developing complete set of equipment and providing consulting technical report. The relevant processes include physical and chemical methods such as coagulation, membrane separation, ion exchange, electrodialysis, distillation, and biological treatment methods such as aerobic and anaerobic.

     

    I also particularly enjoy conducting research on the water environment of river basins. In the national science and technology support program project "Integration and Demonstration of Source Control and Water Purification Technology for Connected Villages and Towns in the Central Water Network Area" (2012BAJ21B00), research on village and town pollution control and nitrogen and phosphorus recovery and utilization technology has been systematically carried out. The relevant technologies not only have practical significance for rural water pollution control, but also have important significance for urban watershed water environment governance. In the research and demonstration of key technologies for water quality, water quantity, and water ecology joint regulation in the Huaihe River Basin (2014ZX07204-006), which participated in the national major water project, the use of experimental methods to determine the pollutant degradation coefficient in natural river channels is of great significance for river water quality simulation.

     

    Currently, the main research projects are as follows:

    1. Research on Water Supply and Demand in the Lake Victoria Basin of East Africa, a part of a key project, funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

    2. Research on the drainage system model of the Huangxiao River- Airport River basin in Wuhan, supported by enterprises.

    3. Research on the treatment technology of amine wastewater from petrochemical catalysts producing processes, supported by enterprises.

    4. Development of equipment and microbial agents for kitchen waste treatment, supported by enterprises.

    5. Comprehensive research on low-carbon treatment technology for chemical wastewater, supported by enterprises.

    6. Municipal sewage shortcut nitrification-denitrification process development, independent research.

    7. Research on lake algae control technologyindependent development.
