Luyu WANG, Ph.D. in Engineering
Luyu joined School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Wuhan University in 2026. He received his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021, during which he completed a joint Ph.D. program at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Department of Applied Mathematics (2019–2021).
Upon completion of his doctoral degree, he was awarded full funding from the EURAD project under the European "Horizon 2020" program, serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the GeoRessources Lab, CNRS (2021–2022). Subsequently, he continued his research at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2022–2025).
His research focuses on Hydraulic Geomechanics and its engineering applications. By integrating numerical simulation with deep learning methods, he addresses frontier scientific problems to support major national engineering projects. His research interests include:
(1) Seepage and failure characteristics of geomaterials and their multiphysics coupling effects
(2) Geotechnical stability assessment and prediction methods that fuse data science with classical mechanics
(3) Development of high-fidelity, high-performance numerical simulation for multiphysics systems
