Shen’s research focuses on remote sensing satellite mission planning and ground operation and control. In recent years, the work has mainly addressed the needs for efficient operation and management of satellite-ground resources, including agile satellite imaging missions, multi-satellite collaboration in large-scale constellations, and optimal scheduling of ground station resources, through satellite resource/task modeling and intelligent optimization algorithm research. The main areas include:

  1. Satellite mission planning and optimization for complex imaging modes: Targeting the “imaging-in-motion” capability of new-generation super-agile satellites, Shen has studied task planning and modeling methods for same-orbit multi-point targets, multi-strip mosaicking, and stereo imaging, meeting the requirements for integrated optimal scheduling of multi-mode imaging.

  2. Multi-satellite collaboration and satellite cluster resource scheduling: To meet typical application requirements such as regional coverage, large-area mapping, and emergency observation, Shen has studied joint multi-satellite mission planning models to achieve efficient coordination of constellation resources and promote a systematic leap in operation and control capabilities from single satellites to constellations.

  3. Deep integration of intelligent optimization algorithms and task scheduling: In recent years, Shen has mainly researched cutting-edge AI methods such as deep reinforcement learning and meta-reinforcement learning to solve large-scale satellite cluster task optimization problems, aiming to establish a new paradigm for intelligent operation and control featuring “data-driven + heuristic.”

  4. Development and in-orbit verification of ground systems for in-orbit satellites: As the person in charge of the ground TT&C system for the Luojia series satellites, Shen has supported in-orbit TT&C and operation control for multiple Luojia satellites and undertaken mission planning development tasks for the ground systems of multiple commercial satellites.
